Yum, Yum, Yum. We had our first asparagus fresh from the garden last night. The first picking didn’t give us much, but boy, was it sure delish!!!

My Mom is wonderful. She raised 3 young children on her own as a single mother and can still laugh about all our crazy antics.

This last spring, she joined our family on a trip to the Washington State coast. We drove up to the Makah Indian reservation and hiked out to the very tip of Washington. It was beautiful beyond description. I’m so glad that I was able to share that experience with my mother.

Heading up our Road

Huckleberry Tent and Breakfast is located 1.7 miles off of Highway 200. Our gravel road meanders through the trees, up a hill and then levels out. This week I’ve seen several deer, 1 moose, 4 elk and a snow shoe hare while taking the kiddos down to the bus stop.

‘Chicken Run’ Attack

Came back from Sandpoint today and found a dozen chickens in the garden eating the garlic!!!! Oh No!!!!

I used my handy, dandy chicken net and put them back in their pen but the garlic and strawberry patch is all scratched up.

Guess I know what I’ll be doing this weekend.

I’m thinking chicken and dumplings sounds pretty good right now ; )

Rachel, the Cub Scouts and I went fishing at the Clark Fork Fishing Pond. She was so excited about catching her first fish.

If you’re in the area, the Pond is on the north side of the road right before you leave town. Children under 14 are allowed to fish for free. Limit 6 fish per child. BYOW&P (Bring your own worms and pole).
